In July of 2023, one of our patients at Revive Hospital – an accredited hospital facility and part of the Vive Treatment group – was found unresponsive in her bed by staff. Despite resuscitation efforts, she was pronounced dead on site. A cause of death was not immediately evident. Autopsy results were inconclusive and officials were unable to determine a specific cause of death.
Vive Treatment administrators immediately notified both local police and state regulators of this tragic event and actively cooperated with all investigations. At that time, State regulators appropriately paused new admissions while they investigated.
Both regulators and local law enforcement completed their investigations and neither found wrongful or criminal activity. While we routinely self-reported an issue at the time, it was judged to have had no bearing on the patient’s death. We have long been cleared to accept new admissions.
As members of the mental health community here in St. George, we strive to provide the highest level of care, support and transparency possible. Our hospital, staff and facility remain in good standing with state authorities and we are fully licensed to provide care.
All of us here at Vive were heartbroken at the loss of a patient. Out of respect for the bereaved family and in compliance with Federal and State Privacy laws, we have previously made no public statements.
